Tinkle Family Racing and Lorz Motorsports with driver Zachary Tinkle made their third visit of the season to Anderson Speedway Saturday, for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS second playoff race of the Chase for the Championship. Anderson Speedway is one of Zachary’s favorite tracks and he was looking forward to having a good run Saturday and hopefully bettering the two ninth place finishes he had in each of the July series events at Anderson.

Zachary and the team participated in the practice sessions on a beautiful September Saturday afternoon in Central Indiana. The car felt good and Zachary felt like his prior experience at Anderson would help him in qualifying. Zachary qualified 8th of the 14 cars on hand for the event, Zachary and the team felt good about their car for the 75 lap feature.

The 75 lap feature turned into a tough grind on the tight quarter mile track with several incidents during the race. Zachary managed to stay out of trouble until the “big one” on lap 71 when several cars got together on the backstretch, Zachary also got caught up in it, the car suffered some damage but Zachary was able to continue and bring home a sixth place finish.

“Saturday night’s CRA race was the craziest I’ve been in,” remarked Zachary. “We at least finished the race, which is saying a lot. There were several incidences including a black flag on another driver and ‘the big one’ with four laps to go. I hit hard in the pile up and got a hole in the hood and fender, but could keep going. Our day ended around 3am when we left the St. Vincent ER. In short: We Survived! Thank you Performance Friction Brakes Simpson Race Products and Left Paw Press for your support!”

Zachary was the third highest Chase driver to finish the race, keeping him in the top four in Chase points with only one event left until the series Championship event at Winchester Speedway on October 13th.
