After having made the announcement that he would not be going to the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour race at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway, Zachary Tinkle was available to fill the seat for the 06 Ford of Wayne Peterson Motorsports in the Zinsser Smartcoat 200 race in the ARCA Menards Series.
Zachary went to the track excited to make his debut in the ARCA Menards series. He wanted to learn this type of car and the track. He was 12th fastest in practice and qualified 13th. He had made a pass during the race and was looking at a potential top 10 finish when the sway bar broke, causing him to come in the pits and lose several laps.
Even with the ill-handling car, Zachary continued on in the race for over a hundred additional laps and took the checkered flag in 13th place. After the race, many commented that Zachary showed himself well in his first race and appreciated his never-give-up attitude.
Considering that he didn’t know when he would get the chance to be in a race car again after his dad’s stroke, Zachary was thrilled with the opportunity. He posted on his social media, “… a great night for me personally, had a lot of fun making my first ARCA Racing Series start and to get to take the next step up in my career. Fortunately I was also very grateful to have my dad be able to join me for my first ARCA race as it meant to world to me, had the most fun I have had in years at a racetrack… big thank you to Wayne Peterson Motorsports, Wayne Peterson and team for letting me drive the #06 Ford this weekend with such a last-minute deal, it was a great pleasure to work with such great people… also want to thank the ARCA officials for keeping us race car drivers safe, and most importantly to all the fans for their support of me and the ARCA Menards Series, it was great to meet so many faces last night!…”
Zachary’s next race will be in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour in a completely fan-funded race at Birch Run in Michigan. The family is still accepting donations to fund the rest of Zachary’s season on his GoFundMe campaign. Here is the link: https://gofund.me/6661a932.
