Tinkle Family Racing is pleased to announce that up-and-coming thirteen year old minicup stock car racer Zachary Tinkle #53 of Park Ridge, IL has been named ‘Most Improved Driver’ 2015 by Central States Region (CSR) Super Cups. Tinkle also finished the season 2nd in championship points for the 2015 season. He picked up his trophies at a banquet held at K1 Speed Addison January 16, 2015.
Tinkle had a season of ups and downs with engine issues starting with his second race of the season, causing him to have engine rebuilds. In fact, his first heat race win was with a borrowed engine. His 2nd place point standing was in jeopardy after a double-feature weekend at Grundy County Speedway. He was spun out in the first feature and had mechanical issues during the second feature. But, Tinkle did not give up. He came back race after race. After overcoming the obstacles, Zachary took off toward the end of the season with four feature wins. He ended the season on a high note by making a clean sweep at Anderson Speedway. He was the fastest qualifier, won the heat race and won the feature — putting him back in the 2nd place spot in championship standings.
Additionally, Zachary accepted a plaque of recognition on behalf of Tinkle Family Racing for behind the scenes work that the race team does for the Central States Region Super Cups series on a regular basis.
Beyond the accolades at the Central States Region Super Cups banquet for 2015, Tinkle also placed 2nd in championship points at Rockford Speedway Wild Wednesdays and 4th in championship points for the Short Track Auto Racing Series (STARS) in addition to becoming their 2015 Illinois State Champion for minicup racing.
