Tinkle Family Racing and Lorz Motorsports with driver Zachary Tinkle made their second trip of the season to Anderson, Indiana Saturday for the fifth event of the season for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS. The team’s last event was at the same track in the second leg of the Triple Crown Series, were Zachary came away with a ninth place finish in that event. Zachary had looked forward to the events at Anderson Speedway this season, because of his past experience there in Mini Cup cars.

Zachary got a couple of good runs in both practices on Saturday trying to get his car dialed in for the 75 lap event. The weather was totally opposite of the previous event which was ran under a heat advisory. The weather on Saturday was very nice, and much cooler, which challenged the team to get the proper set up for the 75 lap feature. Zachary qualified ninth out of the 15 cars on hand for the event.

The green flag dropped on the event with Zachary looking to advance his position. Zachary and another car spun on lap 18 while battling for position, Zachary was able to continue, but both competitors had to restart at the tail of the field. Zachary raced his way back to a ninth place finish for his fifth straight top ten finish in each of the series five events so far this season.

Zachary again accomplished all his goals during the 75 lap feature, he completed all the laps, fought his way back from the back of the field, passing cars and gaining more experience with each lap he turned and the car was again in one piece, which can be tough at a fast quarter mile track like Anderson.

With his fifth straight top ten finish with the series, Zachary continues in third place in series Championship points behind fellow series rookie Chris Shannon, the current series Championship point’s leader and Tony Brutti who is in second. The series only has one more regular season events before it begins its four race Championship Chase to crown the 2018 series Champion.

Zachary was very happy with his finish and his race at Anderson, “We qualified ninth and finished in ninth, I’m happy with another top ten finish. I learned a lot and gained more valuable experience. I have to thank all my sponsors and also want to thank John Mitakides DDS for being our fuel sponsor at Anderson today!”

Next Event: JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Berlin Raceway Saturday, August 11th.
