Zachary Tinkle and his Lorz Motorsports Team will be competing in the upcoming Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS event on Labor Day Weekend on the famed High banks of Winchester Speedway as part of the traditional World Stock Car Festival. The Monday, September 3rd event is a very special event for Zachary and the whole Tinkle family as Zachary will race that day in loving memory of his Grandpa Larry Darr who passed away last November after a battle with esophageal cancer.

“Winchester Speedway was a very special place for my Grandpa Darr,” remarked Zachary. “Winchester was important to my Grandpa as he grew up near there, attended races there and knew it had a national reputation as a tough track to race at. When I told him that Winchester would be on my race schedule in 2018, he said, ‘If you can race there, you can race anywhere. I can’t wait to watch!’ Unfortunately my Grandpa is not going to be able to watch me in person, but he will be there in spirit!”

His Grandpa Darr regretted not being able to see Zachary race at Winchester, he last saw Zachary compete in a Mini Cup race at Anderson Speedway last year. The team had a test session at Winchester Speedway last year, but Grandpa Darr was too weak to attend. The team is planning to celebrate Grandpa Darr’s life with a group of his friends attending the event to watch Zachary race on the High Banks of Winchester Speedway, which was where Zachary saw his first ever race as a young boy with his father.

Tinkle Family Racing will have a special designed t-shirt that people can wear for that event. The artwork on the shirt is the same illustration that Zachary has worn on his helmet during the 2018 season.  It says ‘In Loving Memory Larry Darr.’ It’s a drawing of Larry Darr on his beloved 1985 low-rider Harley-Davidson – the only vehicle he bought brand new. Many people knew Larry because of his love of bikes. He was sought out by people to rebuild Indian motorcycles because he would even forge his own parts because he wasn’t impressed with some of those offered aftermarket. He also restored old Fords – namely Model A’s.

Following is the link to the t-shirt. Both Tinkle Family Racing and Lorz Motorsports Team members will be wearing these at the track. https://zacharytinkle.com/product/in-loving-memory-larry-darr-short-sleeve-t-shirt/
