It was a promising day in practice for the 6th race of the NASCAR Speedweeks held at New Smyrna Speedway. Zachary did well in practice for the World Series of Asphalt and was looking forward to the group qualifying session. When he went out, he qualified 3rd and passed tech. Then, because of a technical glitch, the track gave less than thirty minutes notice that they were holding a second group qualifying session that would last five minutes. The team shuffled to the tire area to mount another set of tires and get Zachary ready for the session. After all the chaos, Zachary then ended up with a qualifying spot of 8th.
He started the race in 8th position since the invert was four. He ran as high as 5th during the race. After a couple cautions and restarts, he ended the race in one piece in the 8th position.
